West Clay 1st Grade Spelling Words

This app is customized for West Clay Elementary school in Carmel Indiana. Grades 1 through 5 are available for download.

This app is all about repetition and reward.

The student selects a list and practices spelling the words. If they need a little extra help, they can click the "help" button. This button reveals the correct spelling of the word. The goal of this app is to get students to a place where the feel confident enough to disable the "help" button. When they disable the help button, they begin playing for stars. In order to win stars, students must get all words in the list correct.

We have found that if a student earns at least 5 stars for the same list, they are ready to take the spelling test in class and be successful.

We recommend that you work out some kind of recognition and reward program with your child to help keep them inspired to move forward.
